Senior Product Manager



Job Summary: This position is responsible for growing and maintaining the overall business objectives for Glynlyon, an educational technology company that service both the institutional and consumer end markets. The Senior Product Manager will serve as the face of the company's ed tech programs, ensuring they reflect and meet institutional, private online academy, and consumer market needs, research based best practices and best in class industry standards.



Reports To: SVP Product Management


Essential Functions:


  • Participate in the identification of market opportunities in the institutional and consumer education space and the development of products and business models positioning, viability, and profitability.
  • Serve as the internal/external spokesperson to drive support and adoption across the larger organization for new features and product launches by working with marketing, customer support and other product groups
  • Pre-empts potential problems and provide effective solutions in reaction to the application of concepts, techniques, knowledge, or processes developed to support the new product or product change
  • Collaborate with Product Management and cross-functional leadership in the development of product strategies for meeting company objectives
  • Build business cases and oversee cross-functional execution for new product launch
  • Maintain a deep understanding of educational technology, the consumer online content market and competition based on a synthesis of appropriate data, including: primary and secondary market research, customer feedback, sales and market data, product evaluations, and industry network
  • Develop a sound product line strategy, including product definition, positioning, and schedules
  • Define concise and powerful market messaging related to product lines and articulate to Marketing
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and form action plans on quarterly product line metrics to share with key stakeholders
  • Work cross-functionally to refine and build product frameworks to increase organizational efficiencies
  • Work cross-functionally to train, prepare, and support the organizations responsible for consumer products
  • Identify and manage key business partnerships and opportunities related to the market and product
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:


  • Experience in Agile Methodologies
  • Excited about and motivated by working in a fast-paced environment
  • In depth knowledge of the education market including institutional, private online academy and consumer markets
  • Strong leadership skills and experience with inspiring teams through growth and organizational change
  • Enjoy spending time in the market to understand existing product offering and opportunities, and find innovative solutions that will drive growth in our Consumer Products business
  • Bachelor's degree in business, education or an equivalent field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product management, product strategy, or equivalent in the field of education or educational technology
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development or content development in the field of educational technology
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in leading teams in a highly matrixed, highly cross-functional organization
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience interacting with customers, strategic partners, and cross-functional groups to understand market and business needs
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated success in developing and launching new market and new vertical product lines as well as adjacent markets



Work Environment/ Physical Demands:


  • General office environment
  • May be sitting for periods of 3-6 hours at a time
  • Work involves extended periods of computer use
