Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)

Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for defining, designing, and implementing complex, multi-tier distributed software systems throughout all phases of the software development life cycle while providing technical oversight and guidance to team members.


Essential Functions:

  • Provide technical oversight to the development process including code reviews and mentoring of the technical team
  • Work with other engineers, Architecture, Product Management, QA, Scrum Masters, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions that meet business needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules and adherence to development principles and product goals
  • Develop clear, well-communicated, thoroughly tested, complete code for complex product features or sub-systems
  • Strengthen the development culture and lead by example so every team member executes with an obsession for Customer Experience, Team Velocity and Software Quality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Other Duties:

  • Team Training and Mentoring
  • Participate in the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high level estimates


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Advanced understanding of object-oriented design methodology and application development in Java, Spring and Spring Boot.
  • Advanced understanding of web technologies like HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Ajax, Node.js and Angular 2+
  • Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies, continuous integration and deployment
  • Possess creative problem solving skills and excellent troubleshooting/debugging skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical team members
  • Ability to ensure inclusion of product vision and industry trends to enable results that drive business value.
  • Lead a culture of team ownership that fosters individual and team accountability to continuously improve how they work and achieve results
  • Experience identifying, recruiting, assessing, and hiring talented engineers.  Ability to mentor performance of and provide coaching for under-performing team members
  • Ability to collaborate with members of the design team, product management as well as business owners, to identify requirements and design new products or extensions to existing products
  • Passion for collaboration and team unity.
  • Passion for continuous learning


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience of full stack software development in an enterprise environment.
  • Extensive experience designing, and developing object oriented software utilizing Java, Spring, Angular and JavaScript.
  • Experience working with Relational Database Management Systems such as PostgreSQL
  • Experience in building modern distributed applications using a micro services framework.
  • Broad experience with various UI architectures with the skills to extend a framework beyond what's provided out of the box


Work Environment/ Physical Demands:

  • General office environment
  • May be sitting for periods of 3-4 hours at a time
  • Work involves extended periods of computer use
